September 2026 has come and gone, and once again, predictions concerning the Rapture of the Church have failed. Consequently, many Christians who sincerely expected the Lord’s return are now left disappointed, confused, or even discouraged.
But perhaps we should consider a different question. Instead of continuing to speculate about a rapture in September, could we have overlooked biblical evidence pointing toward another season altogether?
What if certain passages of Scripture suggest that the Rapture of the Church may occur in the spring, possibly around Pentecost?
In this End Time Classroom study, I would like to examine several remarkable biblical connections. Taken together, they present an interesting possibility that, at the very least, deserves our attention.
1. Rapture In September? The Church Began at Pentecost
Before considering when the Church might depart, such as a Rapture in September, we should first consider when it began.
Although Christians differ concerning the precise beginning of the Church, I believe Scripture identifies Pentecost as the beginning of the Church’s Spirit-empowered ministry.
In Ephesians 2:16, Paul explains that Christ reconciled both Jews and Gentiles unto God in one body through the Cross:
“And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby.”
Therefore, through His death and resurrection, our Lord provided the foundation for the Body of Christ.
Furthermore, Ephesians 4:8–12 describes the gifts Christ gave for the ministry and edification of His Body. Notice particularly that scripture includes apostles (plural) among those gifts.
However, something remarkable was still to happen.
In Acts 1:8, Jesus told His disciples:
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me…”
Acts 2 fulfilled that promise, on the Day of Pentecost, when the assembled believers received the Holy Ghost, also fulfilling John 14:16.
Consequently, I believe Pentecost marks the beginning of the Church as the Spirit-empowered Body of Christ.
Now consider this question: If the Church began its earthly ministry at Pentecost, could its earthly ministry also conclude around Pentecost?
This possibility becomes particularly interesting when we examine certain Old Testament typologies.
2. Rapture In September? Ruth and Boaz: A Bride During the Harvest
The beautiful account of Ruth and Boaz provides one of Scripture’s most remarkable pictures of redemption.
Ruth was a Gentile woman from Moab who came to trust the God of Israel. In Ruth 1:16, she declared to Naomi:
“…thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.”
Later, Ruth entered the field of Boaz, a wealthy relative of Naomi’s deceased husband. Interestingly, Ruth 2:3 describes her arrival with the words, “her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz.”
Although Ruth appeared to arrive by chance, God’s providence was at work.
Notice also her question in Ruth 2:10:
“…Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?”
Here we find a beautiful picture of a Gentile receiving grace from Christ, The Redeemer. Consequently, Ruth is a type of the Church, while Boaz pictures Christ, our Redeemer. (See Chart Below).

But Notice the Harvest Season!

Ruth 1:22 tells us that Ruth and Naomi arrived in Bethlehem “in the beginning of barley harvest.”
The barley harvest was associated with the spring season and Passover. Furthermore, Ruth 2:23 tells us that Ruth intended to glean through both the barley and wheat harvests, but the providence of God intervened and she worked only through barley harvest.
The wheat harvest brings us toward Pentecost, also called the Feast of Weeks.
Therefore, the developing relationship between Ruth and Boaz takes place against the backdrop of the spring harvests, culminating in their marriage at the end of the barley harvest and right near wheat harvest, or Pentecost.
Scripture does not specify that their wedding occurred directly on Pentecost but only near that time. Nevertheless, the connection between a Gentile bride, her redeemer, and the spring harvest season is certainly worth considering.
Could this beautiful picture of redemption also suggest something about the season of the Church’s departure?
3. Rapture In September? The Wheat and Tares: Another Harvest Connection
Another interesting connection appears in Jesus’ parable of the wheat and tares in Matthew 13:24–30.
In this parable, a man sows good seed in his field. However, while men sleep, an enemy comes and sows tares among the wheat. Consequently, both grow together until the harvest.
Later, Jesus explains:
“The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one.” — Matthew 13:38
Notice something particularly interesting: the good seed represents God’s people, and the crop is wheat!
Certainly, Jesus identifies the harvest in this parable with “the end of the world” (Matthew 13:39). However, the end of the age involves several prophetic events, including the Rapture of the Church, the Great Tribulation, and the Second Coming of Christ.
Consequently, the association of God’s people with wheat becomes especially interesting when we remember that Pentecost is also known as the Feast of Weeks, celebrating the wheat harvest (Exodus 34:22).
Remember that we recently discussed this parable as it relates to The Pre-Trib Rapture in my post, “Day of Christ: What Does It Mean In The Bible?” It is under the heading entitled, “Does Matthew 13 Give Us Another Clue?”
Could this be another biblical clue suggesting that the Church’s Rapture may occur around Pentecost?
4. Rapture In September? Song of Solomon: Arise, My Love, and Come Away!
Our next illustration comes from Song of Solomon 2:8–13.
In this beautiful passage, the beloved approaches and calls for his “Gentile Bride” (see Song of Solomon 1:5 & I Kings 3:1) to come away with him.
Notice his invitation in verse 10:
“My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.”
For those who recognize Solomon as a possible type of Christ and his beloved as a picture of the Bride of Christ, these words are particularly interesting.

Consider the language: “Rise up” and “come away.”
Does this not remind us of the resurrection and catching away of believers described in 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17?
Of course, Song of Solomon is a love poem, not an explicit prophecy identifying the date of the Rapture. Nevertheless, its imagery offers a beautiful illustration of the Bridegroom calling His beloved to Himself.
But What Season Is It?
The passage continues in verses 11–13:
“For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;
The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.”
Notice the unmistakable description of springtime.
Winter has passed. Flowers are appearing. Birds are singing. The fig tree is producing fruit, and the vines are developing.
Then, remarkably, the invitation is repeated:
“Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.”
If we understand this invitation as a possible picture of Christ calling His Bride, the springtime setting becomes especially interesting.
Again, this does not establish a date. But alongside the Church’s beginning at Pentecost and the harvest setting of Ruth and Boaz, it gives us another reason to strongly consider the spring season.
5. Rapture In September? Are We Looking at the Wrong Season?
Let’s bring these biblical connections together.
The Church began its Spirit-empowered ministry on the Day of Pentecost. Furthermore, Ruth’s relationship with her redeemer unfolds during the spring harvests, while Jesus’ parable associates God’s people with wheat, the very grain celebrated at Pentecost.
Finally, Song of Solomon presents a beautiful invitation to “arise” and “come away” amid the unmistakable signs of spring.
Could these connections suggest that the Rapture of the Church will occur around Pentecost, ordinarily observed in May or June?
I believe the possibility deserves serious consideration.
However, we must remember an important principle of Bible study: typology can illustrate prophetic truth, but we must be careful to not make it say more than Scripture establishes. There is no verse explicitly declaring that the Church will be raptured on Pentecost. Neither does Scripture plainly identify September as the appointed month.
But the typologies for Pentecost seem very strong! And remember, God said he uses similitudes in prophecy, according to Hosea 12:10!
And you must ask yourself, why would the Lord inspire the scriptures the way he did, if the typologies mean nothing?
Consequently, I believe the popular expectation of a September Rapture deserves reconsideration, particularly when we consider the biblical connections pointing toward springtime.
Rather than repeatedly predicting dates, we should obviously allow Scripture to guide our expectations.
Conclusion: Be Ready Whenever He Comes!
Now, the purpose of this study has not been to predict another Rapture date. Instead, I wanted to introduce several biblical connections that we may be overlooking in the excitement surrounding September predictions.
And there is something far more important than identifying a possible season.
Are you ready to meet the Lord Jesus Christ?
The Gospel is not complicated. Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1–4).
Salvation is not earned through religious works or by correctly understanding Bible prophecy. Rather, it is God’s gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8–9).
Paul said to Titus in Titus 3:4-6…
“4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;“
The Greatest Love Story Ever Told
The gospel is the greatest love story ever told, as Paul reminds us in Romans 5:6-10…

“6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.“
He shed his blood and died for YOU! He loved you THAT MUCH at Calvary’s cross!
If you have not trusted Christ as your Saviour, I encourage you to do so today.
And for those of us who already belong to Him, let us continue studying His Word, watching for His return, and remembering His wonderful promise:
“And so shall we ever be with the Lord.” — 1 Thessalonians 4:17
Whether the Rapture occurs in spring, autumn, or another season, our blessed hope remains the same: Jesus Christ is coming for His Church!
As always, God bless,
